9 FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications aresfor strong west to south-west winds aud cloudy, unsettled weather, with rain generally, 6now in the high country of the South Island, and sleet and hail in parts. Barometer unsteady, rising soon in the south. A westerly low-pressure area has ruled, and strong northerly and westerly winds "live prevailed. The weather lias been fair in the East Coast districts, but rain lias Mien in all iho western districts, and snow was reported this morning at some of the high-level stations. D. C. BATES, Director.
