THE NEW RAILWAY TIME-TABLE
Sir—The new proposed time-table by the Railway Department seems to be a drastic proposals- Three days to go to Auckland! The Department seems to have adopted these proposals to put a stay on the travelling public; thev seem not to want through traffic to Auckland. Very few people will want to travel on these conditions. Of course, some must travel, and I consider it would bo ni the interests of those who must travel if the Department had a d °J?f ed ll '° principle of running the- AuclJand in*fts=i through «ay on three dajs pei oi even days.. Th r wouhl, allow people to make their arrangement to suit. Then it would have been to the advantage of postal arrangement. Surely the Department does not considei i sufficient for a day's work for an engine a d staff from Wellington to-Palmer ston! This is going to take more coal than to run through to Auckland. I will take about 4cwt. ot coal to get iip steam next morning. Of pends on what amount of .coal the Department has on hand, but it wouldl haio been better if they had cut out some of the daily expresses to Auckland some tinie JUIJJGAX. Jnne 28, 1919.
