ALEXANDRA HOME FOB GIRLS AND MARRIED WOMEN
AN APPEAL.
No doubt the' work of the Alexandra Ilome is woll known to th'e public, as tlie inmates come from all. parts of New Zealand. Over two hundred women and girls' (including in ■ and outdoor cases) were helped through their troubles ana difficulties last year—many getting quito it fresh start in life. Tho work has increased .so much during the last fewyears lliat the committee find it necessary to build in order to copo with it. Tliev have decided to add to. the present building, and to call the addition "The Lllen Greenwood Memorial Wing," .to perpetuate the memory of the . late Miss Greenwood's good works. , She was one .of . the foundors of the institution, and the much loved and honoured president for many years before her death. She practically spent her life for the Alexandra and Levin Memorial Homes. . This would have been brought before the public at an earlier date, but on account ot' the war (and consequently many calls being made upon.- the public) it was thought advisable to postpone the matter.
It is. however, now earnestly- hoped that the public will heartily respond to. this urgent appeal for -funds to build the new wing, which is a matter'of immediate necessity. We are also sliort of funds for maintenance, as, during the war, a great many failed to subscribe in their usual way. The smallest dona-, tions will be most- gratefully received bv tho honorary treasurer—Mrs. Richardson (or any of the committee), .Alexandra Tfoine. 23 Hanson Street, Newtown, Wellington. • l
