' A conference of delegates representing 'the Sh-eepowners and Farmers' Federation and shearers and shed hands was held in tho Farmers' Union Institute on Wednesday and yosterday, when tho demands made by tlie latter for tho ensuing season wero considered. After a full discussion the sheepowners offered to give 30s. per hundred for shearing and an increase of -ss. on the old award for shed hands, also 2d. per hour over and ahovo the rates of the existing award for hourly workers. The offer of the owners, so far as the shed hands wero concerned, was. not acceptable to the men's representatives.
