STATE COAL MINES IN BRITAIN
PROJECT MAY Bri SHELVED. uontlon, Juno 24. Differences amongst the members of the Coal Commission will probably, result in the shelving of the'project for national control, for which a Government majority in the House of .Commons is believed to bo at present unobtainable. In the. four conjiictins reports submitted only the Labour section favours full na-tionalisation.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable/ Assn. (Rec. June 20, 9 p.m.) London, June 25. There is a suspicion in Conservative circles .regarding the Government's attitude towards the various schemes for na. tionalisation. It is suspected that the Communications Bill is the forerunner of proposals for the nationalisation of th& railways. Two hundred members of the House of Commons on Monday next will meet Mr. Bor.av Law to urge Hint the Bill shouf.d not apply to docks and harbours. The opposition to the nationalisation of the mines is increasing inside and outside Parliament. A split in the Unionist Party isregarded as unavoidable if the Government adopts Mr. Justice Sankey's report.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
