Adverse weather conditions on Sunday afternoon compelled tho Jiner Whakatanc, bound from Tiinaru to New Plymouth, v put into Worser Bay for shelter at 3m o'clock. The vessel left the southern port at 9 o'clock on Saturday morning, and on Sunday morning she encountered a heavy westerly gale in Cook Strait. l«e Whakatane continued her. voyage at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. .WEST OOAST PORTS UNWORKABLE. News received by tho American mail states that the American four-inaßtea schooner Yfilliam E. Olson, 491 tons, whicii left- Auckland on February 14 for Papeete to load copra for San Francisco, amyud safely at Papeete, and after loading nor cargo left on March 30 for the Pacific . Coast. All went well until April W when the schooner vent ashore on the' Island of Niihau. According to the latest advices, the vessel and her cargo were considered to be a total loss.
