FRENCHWOMEN'S VOTES
PROTEST AGAINST DECISION OF THE SENATE. " Women's societies in France' are up in arms against the Committee of the Senate which, by 8 votes to 5, decided against giving the vote to women (states tho Paris correspondent of the "Daily News"). They aro not satisfied with tlu« compliments, quite admirable "and exemplary," which Senator Berard in hu report passed upon French women, and they disspnt from the viow that women do not want the vote. . . The Leaguo of Women's Rights met last night under the presidency of Maitre Maria Verone, a lady barrister, and passed a resolution protesting ' a,gainst theSenate Committee's decision without first having heard delegates from the women's societies. Maitre Maria Veronu argues that at a moment when the country needs every help women should' be niirmitled to work with men to realise tho great social reforms on which the future of France.depends—to fieht alcohol, protect mothers, gave thousands,of children from death, and to assist old people. ■ , ' Other women's societies liavo decided to ioin with tho LenguV of Womeii.'s Rights nnd send a letter of protest :» the President of tho Senatorial Committee demanding that women bo J-card on the subject of the vote.
