* ANXIETY IN ENGLAND. The "Christian Science Monitor" has reliable authority for stating that ,tho whole question of the packers' activities is receiving the closest attention'in England. Aot only has the Food Controller been recently . compiling memoranda on the subject for submission to the Inter-Allied Food Council, but u. committee is now at work here investigating the matter as it affects British interests in. particular. , ■ . Part of the committee's work ig to determine whether or not the existence of a trust can bo proved, and, should it succeed in doing so, anti-trust legislation will probably follow. ■, Tho informant, however, was strongly of opinion that tho producing countries arc those in which the grc-at meat, combines can bo dealt with most effectively. As far as Engiand is concerned, Iβ liiniFclf favoured exclusion from the trade of 1 all but British and Dominions firms. Ho fully admitted, however, the difficulty of national action of this land in face of tho dawning era of international action, and acknowledged that this is one of the many reasons that render tho In-ter-Allied Food Control tho body best fitted to cope with the situation which has arisen, since it alone can deal internationally with a problem essentially international in character,
