Slingsby, Wellington Regiment, N.Z.E.I' 1 ., has been promoted to be second lieutenant, supernumerary to establishment. 2nd Lieutenant H. L. Lucena, R.A.F., of Toko (Taranaki.i, is returning to New Zealand by tho Aeneas. Mr. Frank Finch, chief draughtsman to the Auckland Harbour Board, who lias been appointed resident engineer at Napier, was. presented by the staffs of the harbourmaster, engineer's, and secre-Uu-y's staff with a suit-case, some books, and a pipe. Officers discharged from the ' Expeditionarv Force, in England include Captain S. Gardner (Rifle Brigade), 2nd Lieutenant I). A. Kaeburn (Rifle Brigade), Lieutenant G. T. Wcston (Canterbury Regimen':'). Lieutenant A. J. Farnell (Canterbury Resiment), 2nd Lieutenant S. G. Weaver (Machine-Gun Corps), and 2nd Lieutenant 0. G. Johnston (Army Service Corps). Mr, William Mouldey, an old Canterbury colonist, died on' June 14 at Hastings. He arrived in Lyttelton in 1850 in the ship Cressy. ) It is 'announced in orders that the following staff sisters of. the New Zealand Army Nursing Service, on active service, have been promoted to be sisters :—22/113 M. J. Cameron, 22/430 A. Dickens. 22/410 C. MacFarlane, 22/418-M. H. i\ M'lhvraith, 22/421 B. Maxfield. Mr. David Evans, of New South Wales, hae been appointed nn agricultural inspector by the Otago Education Board. Mr. Evans is a graduate of Hawkesbury Agricultural College. A well-known identity in.the printing trade of New Zealand died on Saturday evening in the person of Mr. G. J.' Sellars. Deceased was at one time a member of the linn of Anthony, Sellars and Co.. of Christchurch, but for some years had been employed in the Government Printing Office. The late Mr. Sellars, who was CS years of age, took a proniin- 1 ) ent part in Hibernian affairs. Mr. Sellars took part in the Mnori war, and was in various conflicts with Tβ Kooti. The deceased leaver seven daughters and three sons. The youngest of the latter is at present on active service. A Remieini Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica at 9 o'clock this morning, and tho interment is to be a private one at the Knrori Cemetery, I Private E. H. Eawnsloy. N.Z.E.F., "Wellington. Regiment', has been promoted to be 2nd lieutenant, supernumerary to establishment. _ Mr. John Rod, of Johneonyille, who recently underwent an operation in the Thermion Private Hospital, is reported to be recovering his health slowly. Tho Rev. Brother Maurice, who has been seriously ill for some .weeks, is now recovering. Captain If. Oram, second in command, Wellinston detachment, "A" Group, N.Z.E.F., Sling, was granted the temporary rank of major us from January 1, 1919. Captain Errol Mackersey, son of Mrs. Mackersoy, formerly of Masterton, but now , of Wellington, is returning by the Kigoma. Captain Mackersey, who left with!the Rifle Brigade, afterwards being transferred to the Machine-gun , Corps, has been at the war for about three and n half years, and , was wounded, though not severely, at PassckemJaele. Major D. G. Johnston, N.Z.F.A., who prior to enlistment was associated with Messra. Williams, Hunt, and Co., in , Wellington, and subsequently as resident partner in the Auckland branch of that firm, will, on receiving his discharge, resume practice as a partner with the iirin'fi successors, Messrs. Watkins, Hull, Hunt, and Wheeler, of Wellington.
