STREET ACCIDENTS
Sir,-I note with interest a loiter pearing in your issue of . une 10 by Mr. Stuart Wilson, relating to street accid'l do not think the remarkable increase in the number and speed of felt-pro-jjelled vehicles jus yet, fully realised, by tlio general public. The whole system of road transport is changing. Hovso trams have given place to electric trams, mid horse-drawn cans, cabs, etc., arc fast being displaced i>y mcclmnically-driven vehicles. All these vehicles move faster than those of other davs, and with increased speed of travel there exists the-necessity for greater cava on' tlio part of pedestrians as w«l «'fi drivers. . This union is very particularly concerned with the regulation of speedthat. it should be reasonable having regard to modern, conditions; but at the same liroo I think there is an Abligat'on upon the public lo.Mercise greater careand watchfulness when abroad on our streets. Mv union hopes shortly lu liring forward some suggestions for educating the public to the newer dangers. —I am, etc., W. BEAUCTAMP-PLATTS,. Secretary, is.Z. Automobile Union.
