SYDNEY MAN'S REPORT
By TeleßraßU-PreEs ABioclatlon-CoßTrieM London, June 16. Lieutenant "Kcesihg, a. Sydney architect, has returned from Gallipoli. Reporting on the graves and battlefield memorials, he etronglj; denies that the Turks desecrated the Australian graves. Oil tb» contrary, the Turks put the Beach and Shrapnel Valley Cemeteries in order, adding mounds lined with stones to each grave, similar to those in their own military cemeteries. The Australian Grave Detachment, aided by maps and photo, graphs, was able to locate almost eveiiy grave known when Auzae was evacuated. Though tlio Turk's liad ' destroyed'" th# wooden crosses for firewood, there. wer* metal crosses and some • earved'-stones. Moreover, the comrades of the dead often sank pipes with the names of the casualties stamped on them in the Morse code. This adoption of an old Australian trick was used in working out the allotments. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
