ARBITRATION COURT

WOOLLEN MILLS AWARD. Thore was filed in the Supreme Court yesterday an award in tho Woollen Mills disputo. The Court fixed -15 hours as a week's work, and overtime to be paid for at tho following rntes:~Two hours, time and a quarter, next two hours, time and a half, and thereafter double time. The wages for male workers to be' not less than Is. Od. per hour. The minimum wage for special operations is fixed jus follows;— Wool-sorters, warpers, pattern weavers (hand-loom), spinners, chain minders, and assistant carders Is. 7d. per hour, tuners Is. Bd. per hour. Women workers with four years' service aro to receive not,less than 10(1. per hour. The rate for all piece-workers remains unaltered, plus 20 per cent, for weavers nnd .15 per cent, for others, and provided that piece-workers shall receive not less than tho amount speoified for time workers. Any,weaver of four years' ex-, perienco in a mill who does not average tho minimum wage over a period of three months shall have his or her wages mado Up to that amount. Piece-workers employed overtime shall be paid in addition to their earnings a sum equal to one-fourth of tho amount of the said earnings. Tho length of the warp and the price per cut aro to be clearly stated when the work is put on the loom. Where one weaver tends two looms 15 per ceiit. shall be deducted from tho piece-work rates. Tho sealo of wages for girls is: First year 15s,per .week, second year.2os., third year 255., fourth year 305., and thereafter lOd. per hour. Boys ami youths are to be paid rates as follow.— U to 15 years, 15s. a week; 15 to 16 years, 205.; 1G to 17 years, 255,; 17 to 18 .veal's, 305.; 18 to 19 years. lOd. per hour; 19 to 20 years, Is. per hour; 20 to 21, Is. 2Jd. per hour.
