WESTMORELAND IN DOCK. The Westmoreland was docked without any difficulty on Tuesday evening at Port Chalmers. On Wednesday morning the water was pumped out of llie dock. Quite b. number of people were present to have u look at tho bottom of the steamer, which was damaged when leaving the Bluff Harbour. Tilers wersi lour small holes in the bottom, from which the water rushtd. Ono of these was about 40ft. distant from the stem, toid was 6ft. or ho oil the starboard side of the keel. Tho next hole was about 50ft. further aft, and wi the port sids, ~bout half-way between the keel and the bilge keel. The other two leako were much nearer the stern, ana iiot. ao apparent. The plating is dented oil the port side under Nos. 1 ind 2 holds, aud at a casual slancc seems to constitute the bulk of tli& damage. But en the starboard side, near the keel, a long dent, tmi not very t'rep, extends for a distance of about three-fourths of the vessel s length. This looks like a. 'ong groove, but whether it has "set up tiie floors" inside, which would mean the renewal of aeep bottom frames, fas yet to be ascertained. As a whole, the damage ;j said to be' less .extensive than was anticipated; but a uurnoer of tho null plates will require to be removed. Some of these will be straightened and replaced, but several of them will have to be renewed. Experts were busy oil Wednesday examining 'the damage and determining its extent. SHAW-SAVILL BOATS.
