ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the committee of ..the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and'Pas:toral Society states that tlio entries for the last spring show totalled 2589, an increcse of 517 over the previous j ear's total, and constituted a record in i.um-,-fibers for-the society. Fino weather was ;experienced on both days of'the ;bow, . the gfjte. takings amounting to jfofll, against the previous year. All ether receipts showed an increase, the revenue amounting to ,£lBOl against <£1023 the ,] previous year. The expenditure totalled i';j2lßß7, against ,£1854 tiie previous year, ' there being a saving of some «2100~m ; ■ jhoney prizes as a' result of paying only Jtali' prize money where there was no ■ competition; this course being decided upon as a war measure with a view to • .'meeting expenditure as far as possible .. out of show rcceipts.V The amount thus saved, together , with the donations forwards the general prize fund, inater- " ially assisted in reducing',the loss to £36 : ;;as against £231 the previous year. The 'Gentries for tho .autumn show totalled VV, 1563, against 1504 the previous year, Tho ,5 weather conditions were most favourable, (• and, as a result tho gate receipts totalled',£lsl 14s. fid., against i'G7.lls. the previous year., Other receipts also showed ■an inorease, the ■ net result being a loss of JM against .£212 the previous year. As the society's lease with thfe Hawke's Bay jockey Club would terminate on March 31, 1912, it would be the duty of the incoming committee to take into consideration the question of preparing plans for the grounds in order that the buildings and yards might be 'proceeded with, when considered advis- < able. Notwithstanding tho spring and i'autumn show having been ruu,at a loss . tho 'gross profits amounted to .£847 15s. ' Of this amount .£32 9s. Gd. had been written off tho buildings, yards, and plant account, ,£63 12s. 7d. off new show ground improvement account, £G Os. 6d. off library account, and <£5 off office furniture account, leaving a net profit of £iM> J2s. :sd„ which, added to capital at May 31, ',1918, made a total of £16,202 16s. Bd. Tho financial membership for the past year was 1520, as against 1133 tho previous year, which was the previous, record for the society.
