CHINESE MISSION
FAREWELL TO. THE MISSIONER, Members and friends of the Baptist Chinese Mission gathered at the Vivian Street Baptist Church on Wednesday evening to bid farewell to the misisoner. Mr. Chiui Kwok Chun, who,'after four years' work among the Chinese in Wellington,' is leaving on a visit to China. The Rev. F. Beckingham presided. Several speakers eulogised tho splendid work the missioner had carried out, and in appreciation of his efforts Mr. F. W. M/Cluskey, on behalf of the Chinese and friends, presented Mr. Chiui Kwok Chun with a gold watch, suitably inscribed. The recipient replied. A surprise presentation was made by Mr. H. Jackson to Mr. M'Cluskcy. This took the form of a solid silver cup, made in China, and inscribed, as a token of the high esteem in which he is held by the Chinese of Wellington. In presenting the "handsome article, Mr. Jackson spoko of Mr. M'duskey's untiring energies in .helping the Chinese, and expressed pleasure at his recovery from a serious illness and the hope that he would ho spared to continue to carry on his work. Mr. M'Clusk'ey thanked the Chinese for their appreciation of his services. During the evening items were contributed as follow: Instrumental music, Chinese Orchestra; 6ong, Mr. Matthew Sbnm (in Chinese); pianoforte solo, Mr. Maun; recitation, Mrs. Mann; duets 'by two little Chinese girls, Misses Wong Bums; cornet duet, Messrs. Baker and Gray; song| Master James Louis Geok; club swinging and gymnastics, Mr. Robinson; short addresses, Jlr. Louis Sou and Mr. Tommy Wong Shoe; duet, Misses Gray; and hymn, Mr. J. Say (in Chinese).
