A preliminary meeting is to bo held in Masterton this evening with it view to forming a branch of the Workers' Educational Association.

Miss Cairns, a Sunday school specialist of tho Presbyterian Church, gave an address in Mastertou on Thursday afternoon on Sunday school work.

An organising tour of the Eketahuna district has been made by tho Revs. 11 alliday, Inglis, and Cathorwood, Presbyterian ministers of the Wnirarapa. Mr. 10. Holdaway, of Ballanco, and for. marly of Mastorton, has conceived tho idea of establishing a great straight road between Woodville and I'eatherston as a district war memorial. A Masterton settler, commenting upon tho price of meat,!stated that farmers in the district were supplying mutton to roadmen, contractors, and others at 5Jd. per pound.

An art union for land donated by Maoris in aid of the Maori Eeturhed Soldiers' Fund was drawn in Masterton on Wednesday. Tho prizes wero as follow: First prizo, Private O'Brien, Feather6ton Military Camp; second, Mr. W. Laingf Pakowai; Tinui; third, Mr. D, Threadwell, Masterton; fourth, Taki Natalia, Martinborough; fifth. Mr. C. Roid, Masterton; sixth, Miss A. Lewin, Masterton.

The Masterton branch of the P. and T. Association on Wednesday evening passed resolutions expressing dissatisfaction with the classification of the service, demanding a general increase of a minimum o* ,£45 to all, and urging that a conference he called as soon as possible.

Tho Wnirarapa Caledonian Society on Thursday.evening made a presentation to Mr. A. .T. Giddings, one of tho director)?, ou tho eye of his departure for England.
