CLUBS' ANNUAL REPORTS WELLINGTON CLUB In the thirty-third annual report on the affairs of tho Wellington Bowling' Club the directors state that the total membership is now 197. The year commenced will a debit balance of ".£B9! and ended with a debit balance of >£S3B. Tho directors record with deep regret the death of six members of tho club during tho year, viz., Messrs. W. Sinnn, sen., J. Russell, J. Malcolm, H. A. M'Kenzie, A. Barron, and A. Lindsay. Included amongst these are three of tho oldest members of the club, who have rendered valuable service in past years. Threo members of the olub, Messrs. Haybittlo, Duncan, and Ashbolt, returned from activo service, and tho members baa tho pleasure of extending to.the two firstmentioned a fitting welcome. Mr. Ashbolt's stay in Wellington was so short that only* a fow members had an opportunity of meeting him. Dr. W. E. Herbert is still abroad. The winners of club competitions during the season were:—Champion Singles; Mr. J. D. Sievwright. Nomination Pairs: Messrs. W. A. Robertson and B. J. Hill. Nomination Rinks: Messrs. J. Muir, W. Greufcli, W. Thompson, and S. Potter (a.). Riuk Match fur President's and Vice-President's Trophies: Messrs. R. Roberts, A. L. Johnson, J. Spinks, ana W. J. Thompson (s.). NEWTOWN CLUB. Tho annual report of tho Newtown Bowling Club states that the club's nienibership has been only fairly well maintained. The club commenced tho year with 81 names on the list, of whom two were life members, two were supernumeraries, and three in ramp. During tho season twelve new members we're elected. Messrs. J. Downey, S. Alpo, and A. E. Spiers passed .away, and their loss is keenly felt.' Three nairics we're written off, and so far seven resignations have been received. The directors report that, thanks to tho stops, taken to remedy tho unsatisfactory positiqn of the club's funds at the end of last season, the club is now on a much better, financial footing. The main mortgage on, the club's property has been converted from a tabid to a flat one, resulting in a. considerable saving in tho yearly expenditure under this heading. "Club competitions were got through fairly successfully, but the system; of declaring winners on points margin as adopted at the last annual meeting did not give by any means the satisfaction anticipated.' As the system .was adopted for one season's trial only, tho old system will be reverted to, unless members decide otherwise. Tho winners were:— Champion Singles: James Braclcenridge, sen. Underwood Cup: P. Hunt, Champion Pairs: J. M. and James Brackenridge, sen. (s.). Junior Handicap: S. C. Sparrow. Levestam Patriotic Singles: H. Bauson. "Tho .Wellington Centre Tournament was won' by the club, Messrs. Barkor, Middlebrook, Scott, and Prince (s.) being the successful rink. Their achievement was recognised by tendering them a smoke concert, which was a great success. Club rinks which played in the Taranaki, Manawatu, and Lyall Bay tournaments did very well. The club was not directly represented at the Dominion Tourney at Auckland, but several members played for other clubs. "L. Warwick; J. ■Astill, J. Russell, and A. Duff (s.), the nominated rink ■ from tho club at the centre competitions, received most hearty congratulations upon winning the centre's 'champion of champions rink fixture. The club representatives in the singles and pairs were beaten during the playing of those matches.'Once again the Senior Pennant was won by the. club, and without a loss, the runnersup being tho Johnsonvillo Club representatives. This is the dub's fourth consecutive winning of the Pennant and marks the sixth season the club has had tho honour of flying it during the past eight years."

: HATAITAI CLUB. The annual ! report of the Hataitai Bowling Club states that the club has ken able to show a steady increase in membership, and as the population of the district hns greatly increased no doubt a limit of membership will havo to be arranged for. The present membership stands at 93, including five non-players, seven hon. members, and one life member. Wo regret • the loss of too of our members during tho season, viz., Captain Light and Sir. Baddelcy. Tho bal-ance-sheet and statement of accounts ia considered satisfactory. Tho slight increase in the subscriptions lias enabled tho club to meet its \ engagements and produce a net gain on tho year's tran> sactions. The Match Committee sub. initted the following-report for the season 1918-19,' including, three matches con. eluded from last season:—l9l7-18-:M'Ken-zio Cup: J. "\V.
