LEAGUE FOOTBALL
A , meeting of the executive of-the Wellington Rugby Football Association was held on Monday evening. Correspondence was received from Auckland 6tating that they had accepted Wellington's challenge for the Northern Union Cup, and asking to fix a dato in July. It was decided to write to Auckland and suggest that the niateh be played as soon as possible'after'the New Zealand team returns from Australia, which will be early in August. Auckland also intimated that they would favourably consider a date to play Wellington at Wellington. The secretary reported that the City Council had bean written to asking for the use of the Basin .Keservo on six occasions this year, with the right to charge. Tho probable matches which will take place on these dates will bo: Auckland v. Wellington, Canterbury v. Wellington, N.Z. Touring team v. Wellington, Australia, v. New Zealand, Australia v. Wellington, and the loc.il championship final.
The following fixtures were drawn for Saturday:— ' ■. Senior—Athletic v. Suburbs, at Newtown Park; referee, Mr. Murphy. Petone B v. Petone A, at Petone; referee, Mr. S. Brice.
Junior—Newtown Park, at 2.30, Athletio v. Suburbs; referee, Mr. Evans. Petone A v. Potonoß, at Petone, at 2.30; referee, Mr. White. The folknving have, been selected to piny for tho Petone Senior League teams on Saturday:—Senior A—Ashton, House, 'Henderson,'Pukitapu, R.
