The Masterton County Council is callin;; tenders for the erection of a ferroconcrete, bridge over the Waingawa River.
It is staled to be improbable that the Labour Party will nominate a candidate for the Masterton eeat at the general election. The Masterton Borough Council has set up a sub-eominittee to confer with a committee of the County Council in regard to the amalgamation of Lan6downo with file borough. The Masterton Borough Council has endorsed a proposal of the N.Z. Returned Soldiers' Association that Anzac Day shall be made a statutory holiday. Mr. C. C. Jackson was driving in his ear along Lincoln Road with Mrs. Jackion, when a cab driven by Mr. \Y. Innca came from a side street. The pole; ot the cab eamo into contact with the windscreen of the car, shattering it completely. Mrs. Jackson was severely cut about the head and face, and was admitted to Nurse White's hospital. Mr. Jackson was also injured to some extent. The Featherston School Committee has appointed a deputation to wait upon the Methodist Church Trustees re the matter of securing a site for a new main school. The resignation-of Mr. F. C. Everton from.the position, of headmaster, alter sixteen years' occupancy of the post, has been received, and the committee placed on record an expression of appreciation of the services rendered, also regretting (liis ill-health. - ■
