WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby _ Union was held last evening. Mr. W. F. Hornig presided, and there were present Messrs. A. J. Griffiths, J. N. Millard, E. Perry, W. W. Cook, J. London, G. Jackson, J. Prendeville, W. Donovan, W. H. Buck, E. H. Ward, and T. H. Jones (secretary). It was decided to call for tenders for the erection of a close-boarded fence at the south end of Athletic Park. It was decided to send a letter of protest to the New Zealand Rugby Union with regard to its decision in respect of the appointment of referees for incerprovincial matches, and, further, to ask the other provincial unions to accord support to the protest. It was stated by several members that in the past the arrangements in regard to interprovincial matches were satisfactory, and there was no special reason why there should be any change. The War Expenses Club, recently formed, was granted affiliation. The club is to enter the junior competitions. It was decided to inform the club that the application for the transfer of M'Phce from the Wellington Club could not be granted under tho rules. The Old Boys Club having withdrawn from the senior competition, the Oriental Club applied for the transfer of H. J. Porter and T. G. Booker from the former club to the latter, which was granted. A letter was received from the Wellington Football Association, in which complaint was made that while Association players were engaged in a championship game 011 Saturday, June 5, on Kilbirnie Reserve; some Rugby players practised goal-kicking, 'and so interfered with the game.—lt was decided to warn tho offending clubs on the matter. The Tramway Club was granted the i;so of Athletic Park for a gnmo with the Post and Tele_graph Department, to take place to-moirof. Tho application of the Wairarapa Union for an alteration of dates of representative matches could not bo entertained, because to do so would interfere with other fixtures, and the union is to bo so informed. Mr. A. J. Griffiths was appointed manager of the team to piny Taranaki, at fiawera, early in Ju!v. Tho Welling-ton-team is to lie selected <111 Saturday. The following were appointed selectors of the junior representative team:— Messrs. J. N. 'Millard, W. Frazer, and S. Danks. Tt was decided to play a representative match at Taumarunni on Monday, August 11, against a.King Country team, also a representative gaino at Timnru 011 Thursday, August 21, against South Canterbury.
