CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS

Tho Flaxworkers' Union carried the fol-low-ill" series of resolutions:—"(l) That tho repeal of tho War Begulations that interfere with the freedom of industrial, organisations ami tho members thereof be demanded. (2) Wo demand the release of all persons sufforing imprisonment under tho War Eegulations. (3) We demand the immediate release of all conscientious objectors who are imprisoned for refusing to perform military service. (4) That if tho Tokannu Eoud (Wainiarino district) is urgently needed for tourists, that the prisoners i|jo better fed to withstand the intense cold, and a heat stove or other heating appliance be placed in each hut to keep the place and the bedding'dry in the winter months, otherwise, to close the camp and rcmoi? tho men." A strongly-wordo'd resolution was also passed in rcferenco to the death of W. L. White, a conscientious objector, who died in Auckland' Prison, and also regarding the treatment lie was alleged to have, received.
