The wedding took place at St. Mary'a Church, Culverden, of Miss B. Willy, daughter of Mr. Willy, Bexhill,' Sussex, England, and Mr. Walter Ji\ Gruebvr, late of the Ist C.1.8. The Kev. Canon Smith, rector of this parish, performed the ceremony. Miss M. Gallagher was bridesmaid, and 11 r. 11. G. Sharp mis' best man.
Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Povrlos will celebrate .their golden wedding on Monday next. Mr. Poivles, who k the secretary of tho Board of College Governors, origin. ally came to New Zealand in tlio missionary yacht Southern Cross as long agw aa 1803. Two years Inter ho entered tlio service of the Wellington Provincial Goveminent, and remained in that service until 1877 (when Provincial Govermnpiils were abolished), occupying the position for some years of Assistant Provincial Treasurer. The Government offices in those days were located in tho building still in existence, known as Quintan's Corner, at the junction of Lambton Quay and Bowen Street. Mr. Powles was formerly secretary of tho Society for the Belief of Aged Needy, and for years was secretary to the Diocesan Trustees and Pension Fund. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Powles will join in congratulating them on the attainment of their golden wedding, arid wish them continued health and happiness. -Mr. and Mrs. Powles were married at the lesid.mce of Major Marshall, Tutu Totare, Rangitikei, there being no church in the district at that time. ~.■.-■

Speaking of the work done in the way of providing concerts and entertainments to tho men in camp during the war period by the Victoria League Girls' Concert Party, Mr?. Chatlield said that during; the influenza epidemic their work had. of course, been in abeyance, but it was once more started in February, and entertainments were regularly given on fixed nights at the Church of England Institute at Trentham, the dates being arranged up to tho end of the vcar. The concert party had lost Miss Doris Dall (now Mrs. Faris), but since she liad cdmo to Wellington with her'husband to live it was hoped that she would again belonjj to their organisation. Yet another member would be lost to them' through marriage, but by tho addition of Miss Sullivan and Miss Rodda Iho concert party were nblo to continue their work.
At Tivst night's meeting of the Victoria League Air. Smith, in referring to the valuable work done- by the' league in supplying medical comfort's for Hid men 'nil troopships.' said • that Mr. Hay, the Organising srerelary. for Hie Y.M.C.A., who lind just returned from war service nbrond. had told him Ilial; the work done by the Victoria League for soldiers both at Home and on trqopships, etc., had been splendid, which was a tribute well worth getting from one who liad been in such a. position as ho to. judge of results. Of Jlr. Hay's own work for our soldiers the highest, possible praise had been spoken by both General "Russell and General Richardson.
A. special vole of thanks to Mrs. !Rankitiß Brown for acting as lion, secretary and treasurer to the Victoria League since tho resignation of Mrs. .T. D. Gray from office was, passed by the members present at last night's animal meeting of thai; organisation. A suggestion was made by Mrs. Corliss, that now thai: ttio war was over, mid Die special work of the lensur- would bp once more resumed', it might be desirable to appoint, an organising secretary. This met with much approval, and it was hoped that such a. suggestion.: might be put into effect.

An entertainment was given by tho TTatailai Women's N.itionnl Reserve to the soldiers at the .Crippled Soldiers' Hostel (Wellington Terrace) on Thursday evening. Mrs. Dowling (president;) was among those present, and the arrangements for the evening weiv carried out; by Mesdnnips Searle and -Fortune. A violin solo by Mrs. Otto ■ Bishop was much enjoyed, as were the songs of Mesdn'mes Tnfrniit,' Searle. Fortune, and Miss Eileen Searln. A quartet was given by Messrs. Smith, Scnmmell, Council, and Thompson, and 1 patriotic songs- and recitations by Master Lawrence Searle (eight years old), who was much applauded by the soldiers. Supper was provided by the entertainers, and tho evening concluded with a dance.

The wedding was celebrated very 'quietly in the Bandfit Tabernacle in Auckland last week of liienteiianf Don?lns G. George, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. IT. Georzn, of Wellington, to Miss Pnuljne. Wilkinson, daughter of Mrs. Wilkinson, at iiresent, of Auckland. The Eev. Tf. R. Gray performed the ceremony, The bride was t'iven aw.iy iby her mother, and attended by an old school friend, Miw Mnnro, as Ijridesmaid. Mr. Kerineth Hoby attended the bridegroom as best man. The bridegroom has been serving in the Royal Plying Corps, and only recently returned to New Zenland. After a motor tour of a few weeks, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas George will make their home in Wellington.

Miss JTaud Howard has been appointed domestic science instructress at the New, Plymouth Technical College. She studied at O(ag<; University, has passed all sub-' jeets but economics for the B.Sc. device iu home science, and is at present engaged on the'staff of the Pukckohe Technical School. Y.W.C.A, Notes. AH girls and young women are invited to the Y.W.C.A., I'owlds's Buildings, Herbert Street, to-morrow afternoon ai 4.15. The speaker at the devotional service will be Miss Florence Birch, am! the singing will bo bright. At a concert which was held at the Y.W.C.A. on Thursday evening in aid of the Hockey Club funds, Misses Wiren, Exton, Lambert, Buckmastor, Neilson, Massoy, Mr. Cobar, and Mr, Hendry contributed songs and recitations, aiid a dialogue was enacted by Misses Muir, Johnstone, Neilson, and MasterGibbons. Sweets were sold during the evening by the girls who had arranged the concert. The financial result wn.i good, and will help meet the expense* of the Hockey Club and so enable many girls to join who would otherwise be iinftblo to indulge in "such physical recreation.
