PETONE FIRE BOARD
ANNUAL MEETING,
. The annual meeting of tho Petone Irire Board was held yesterday. There, were present:—Messrs. 3. W. H'Ewan (in the chair), Smith, Sulcliffe, Kerr, and Bedingfiold. The Petone Borough Conncil wrote staling that. Messre. 3. W. M'Bwa,n, Bedingfield, and Cook had been appointed the council's representatives on the board.
An offer by Mr. J, Daweon to instal additional «larin-ca!l boxes at a cost of ■£33 12s. Gd,_ was accepted. The superintendent (Mr. J. G. Gaynorj, in his quarterly report, stated that the services of the brigade had not been required during the quarter. Drills had been carried out every week and had been well attended. The plant appliances and alarm system wero all in firet-olass order. Tho annual report stated that tho number of calls received for the year was seven. The past year had been a most successful one as far-its-the prevention of serious fires had been concerned. The loss of property by fire was estimated at, ,£352, of which £sk was covered by insurance. Tho personnel of the brigade was:—Superintendent, de-puty-superintendent, tivo-foremen, ouo motor-man,'aiul twelve firemen. During tho past year alterations had been carried out at the authority of tho borough council.' Tho .present moior fire-engine was in good order, but eoon there would have to be obtained a larger and stronger motor. Tho report was adopted.
