The-Minister stated that ' representations wore made to him recent- : . ly in Wellington that these regulations .were having the effect of restraining j 'many people from advancing money to returned soldiers. He had the mattor ; placed before Cabinet, with the result ! ihat the regulations • were amended as gazetted on June 2. It seemed to him ;• that this amendment cohered all the ■ points raised, with the exception of tho protection of assisted discharged soldiers. Ho promised to refer tho whole question 1.-to the Attorney-General, with a view j to ascertaining whether any' further i action 6hould be taken.
