ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET
* GREAT REVIVAL OF POPULAR INTEREST. London, June 11. .An unusually long spell of the finest weather, combined with the limiting of matches lo two days, has brightened county cricket, and resulted in large attendances and a great revival of interest in the game. Well-known cricketers are rapidly recovering their pre-war form, particularly Hobbs, Ilendren, Perrin, and J. W. H.earn. Twenty-four centuries, two made by Australians, have been scored in first-class cricket in the last eight days, including double centuries scored by Perrin (15S and 101 not out) against. Kent, and ■ George Gunn (169 and 185 not out) against- Surrey. Despite' the high scoring, in a fair proportion of.the matches there.have beenexcellent' bowling performances, the most Prominent being that of Stevens, a Middlesex schoolboy, who took seven for lOi a.nd three for 32 against Hamp-ehiio.—Anfe.-N.Z.
