KARORI BOROUGH AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. Tho Mayor (Miv B. G. H,.Burn) presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Knrori Borough Council held last evening. Thero were x present Councillors R. L. Tingcy, J. C. Fulton, T. A. Munt, L. G. Porter, P. P. Laurenson, J. Burns, i The engineer's Tcport, which was adopted, stated that the Makara Hill Read had been metalled and repaired, and would be in good condition for tho winter. - The building industry in the borough had improved slightly since April i. Ten permits had been granted lo date, of a total value of J61971 10;., and the fees amounted to £9 2s: Od. The permits were for two dwelling houses, two motor garases, five additions to buildings, and six fowlhousos. Tho Tramway Tratfic Manager wroLe complaining of stock wandering on the' tram track near tho Karori golf links. Tho letter was recoived. Tho resolution of tho Waihi Borougji Council advocating Saturday half-holi-day'throughout tho Dominion was supported. ' The Tramway Committee recommended that tho Mayor and Councillor J. W. Henderson be appointed to wait upon tho Tramway Traffic Manager in regard to .minimum-faro cars on the Karoribound cars during rush hours, and also that the cars bound to the cemetery leaving Courtenay Place .at -1.52 p.m. nnd 5.f>2 p.m. to be run through to tho Council Chambers.
