I A very enthusiastic meeting of yachtsmen was held on Moiiday. evening ,-.t the Viking's shed, Avails Bay. The convener of-tho meeting (Mr.' Headland) thanked those present,, and outlined the I proposals for a club for Evans Bay, which he Imped wo.tld become one worthy of support by the whole district. After discussing the proposal, Mr. Ibbotson, sen., was elected chairman, aud the proposal to form a club was carried unanimously; the name of the club to bo the l'.nins Bay Yacht mid 'Motor-Boat Club, the followiug officers were elected, pro tern.--Secretary, Mr. W. A. Marsdcn; treasurer,' Mr. Mastori Howell; committee, Messrs. Ohlson, C. Headland, sen., Hedheld, sen., Slater, G, Durrant, ;\larlo\v, and C. Headland, jun. Dr. Newman, M.I 1 .,.-.was elected club patron,'"subject to ,his .consent. .. The committee was directed.to sot up. .rules and submit same one. month hence. A'finance committee, consisting of Messrs. Jackson, 11. Smitn, Ibbolson, sen., and C. Headland, sen., if«s appointed to collect trophies ami donations for the club. .Mr. G. Jackson ilb.iml.ed, the sum ot\£l as a .special prize for the accepted design for a club flag, and.it was decided to c'hurjo an entrance fee of Is. for all entries From .members for this purpose, A discussion look place as to the advi.-mbiiilyi of holding races during tho first season; but after some discussion it was agreed that some would be held, and that worthy-trophies woiiiit.be given for same. Some members drew attention to the very-small prizes offered to yachtsmen during late years. ■ Donations from those present amounted to about i'llo.
