CENTRAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
■ MEETING OF-THE COUNCIL. The Council of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce met yesterday afternoon. Mr. C. M. Luke presided. Mr, Luke commented briefly on the present international and industrial situations. Ho urged that the only solution of one of the greatest problems of to. 'day was to be found In increased production and better co-operation and participation bv all interested. There would have'to'be a-fairer recognition,.by all parties ■ of. the rights of othei's. Tha sooner peace came and the world was permitted to settle down to tlie new con. ditions the better. ' It was reported that of 70 local bodies invited to take part in the conference ot chambers of commerce and local bodies nineteen had accepted. 'So far twenty-one delegates had been appointed. The date for the opening of the conference was fixed at July 2. In reply to representations regarding the celebration of Anzac Day, the ActingPrime Minister wrote that the question of setting apart, a spccial day would b& considered 011 the return of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance. The chairman -welcomed Mr. H. W. Tolnn, 11 new member of the council.
