' It was decided to refer the matter to the Auckland and • South Auckland - Unions for joint consent.. ■ The Jlaniopoto Union requested the union, to. give, it .some"financial' assistance, particularly as it was desired to foster .football among public schoolboys, . -, The secretary, Mr: W. Beauchartipr . Platl«, stated that the union was not affiliated to the New Zealand Union; and , he had replied 'accordingly. . . Th<p«eecretaryfs. action was confirmed. ...' 1 Messrs. Karl C. .Akers and E.'O: HaleS intimated - that they wished to resign . from - membership of the Management Committee. Ally Akers stated in his let-, ter that,'after, minutes'of , .the special meeting of'tho union, he' felt ho' could -not carry-out' "the poluy approved. by_ the delegates, such policy be-1 . iiig, in-his-opinion,'a violation of 'the' - constitution—an action he did iiot wish .'.to be,-.connected with. The resignations Avero received. Messrs. J. N. Millard and A. C. Kitto, of Wellington, were appointed to'fill the vacancies. , • ' The. isecretarv, Mr. W. Beauchainp'-' Platts, also tendered his resignation. He said that h<j could not agree-with the decision arrived at by the annual meeting with regard to his salary,- and "lie desired to withdraw from the position lie held.' -As a business proposition, the position was, no good.. But, anart ' front'the question of salary lie felt" that he could no longer remain in offico a® he disagreed with the attitude taken up by the delegates on constitutional matters. He desired to give a month's notice, and said that, from tho point of view of helping the. sport, he would give his suc- ■ cessor any assistance that might "be required." ' ... • - Mr. Beauehamp-Platts's'resignation was accepted with regfet. '• The 'match' North Island v.: "South Island was fixed to-.take nlace at Wellington on September 20. ft was decided ■ to defer the question of selectors for the match until a later meeting.•It was decided to spend .£2OO on school football, and Messrs. Jones,, Millard, and Mathieson were appointed a -sub-commit-tee to decide how the money should be i allocated.
