Ono thing which ought to bo done was to collect all tlio data regarding hydro-oleetric power generally. The Minister said ho had with him a Teport prepared by Mr. l'arry regarding tho South Island. Mr. Parry said tho ' results of -investigations were fairly con- . clwsitc' regarding -the northern end of r tluv island, and tliat the most suitable ' position for a jiower station was .-it the outlet of either Lake Kotoiti or Lake JRotoroa. Surveys were necessary to ascertain whether lliese surveys could lie economically developed mill which was the more suitable. Tho Waitaki and Clutha scliwu'.-.i were well locMod for supplying the >outh ond of Uio Island, and could be economically developed, but development was likely to bo 100 - expensive ultimately.
