ALLOTMENT OP GERMAN SHIPS. According to English exchanges the prospective arrangements are that the management of the German passenger, vessels handed over to Britain shall be Placed in the hands of the following London companies :-Poninsular fcnd Oriental Steam Navigation Company, New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., Orient Steam Navigation Company. Ltd., "Union Oastle Mail Steamship Oompany, Ltd. (White Star Mno), and Messrs. Shavi,Savill, and Albion Company, Ltd. The tramp tonnage is said to have been allocated as follown.—Messrs. Bell Brothers and Co., Jlcssrß. T. L. Duff and Co., and Messrs. Macbeth and Co., Ltd. (all of Glasgow); Messrs. Rankin, Gilmour, and Co., Ltd., of Liverpool; Mr. James Westoll, of Sunderland; and Messrs. G. Heyn and Sons, of Belfast. In addition to the above, the following firms are said to have been selected an prospective.managers of further tonnage:— Messrs. P. Henderson and Co., Messrs Thos. Law and Co., and Messrs. J. and A. Roxburgh (all of Glasgow); Messrs. Macyiear, Marshall, and Co., Ltd, (Liverpool); Messrs. William Thompson and Co. (Leith); and Messrs. Cairns, Noble, and Co., Ltd. (Newcastle). THE NEW UNION STEAMERS. . The Union Company's new standard steamer Waitemata left London at the end of last month for Vancouver, where Bhe has been fixed to load for Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne. The new cargo steamer Wairuna, which was purchased at the same time as the Waitemata, is expected to loavo Vancouver next month for Wellington, Sydney, and Melbourne. Two other cargo steamers of 5700 tons gross register are now being built for the company at Homo, and it is probable that thoy will bo employed in the trans-Pacific trade. The company has also purchased another English-built steamer—the Kaiwarra —a vossel of 3100 tons gross, with a carrying capacity of SSOO tons, and it is expected that this steamer will sail from England next month. lor Vancouver, to load for Australian ports. MOAN A AND MANUKA DEPART. Both the Moana and Manuka got away from port on Saturday evening, the former for San Francisco, via way portß, and tho latter for Sydney direct.

THE AEAWA. The Shaw-Savill liner Arawa arrived at Port Ohalmers during the week-end from Lyttelton. Sho has 760 tons of cargo to discharge at tho former port, and after discharging will load a large quantity of frozen meat, etc., for London,, Tho Arawa is due in Wellington about June 16, sailing finally on Jiuoe 19. THE WESTMORELAND'S CARGO. The frozen meat from tho damaged steamer Westmoreland iB etill being discharged into the Rcmuera. at Port Chalmers. Tho work is expected to bo completed early this week. The Westmoreland will then be placed in dry dook for examination and repairs, g Tho Mokoia will arrive hero from Dunodin and Lyttelton to-morrow, and will sail in tho evening for Auckland, via Napier arid Gißborne, taking passengers but not cargo. It is expected that it will be tho end of the week beforo tho Huddart-Parlter collier Barwon will leavo Dunedin for Westport. Tho Poherua is due from Lyttelton today, and an endeavour is to bo made to get her away for New Plymouth to-night. 'rho Blenheim is set down to sail for flaveliick and Pelorus Sound at 8 o'clock this ovening. i Tho Hawera is advertised to sail for Patea at 11 o'clock this morning. The Badon Powell is duo back from New Plymouth to-morrow evening, and on Wednesday will proceed to Lyttelton. It is expected that tho Raranga will leavo Gisborne on Tuesday for Wellington. The Kia Ora is at present at Wanganui, which port sho will leave for Wellington to-morrow. She will probably get away for London on or about June 15. An expected arrival at Auckland to-day is the Island steamer Talune from Suva. Tho Mapourika will not sail from Napier for Gisborno to-night, but will sail on Wednesday night for Gisborno and Auckland. Tho auxiliary aohooner Houto, at present unloading at Port Chalmers, is, on completion of discharge, to load general cargo at the southern port for Wellington. j The following vessels were within wireless raugo of Wellington last night;Moana and Manuka. . The Flora was expected to be within wireless range of AuoMand last night. The barquentinc lima was towed out of Greymouth at 2 p.m. on Tuesday last, bound for Adelaide with/a cargo of timber. > It is expected that the Kapuni will bo laid up for a week at Wanganui, whilst the damage sho sußtainod through coming in contact with the Patea breakwater iB being repaired. Tho small traders Wakatu and Manaroa, are both at present undergoing overhaul at Lyttelton, the former on tho slip and tho latter at fto. 7 breastwork. The Union Oompany advises that its Eastorn trader Waitomo sailed frfim Samarang on. Juno 3, in continuation of her yoyago from Calcutta, to Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, and Dunodin. Tho Waitomo is duo at Auckland on Juno 22, and should arrive in Wellington early in July. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Carpentaria left Lyttelton during the week-end for Bluff. Mr. Bevan, late third officer of the Talune, arrived at Lyttelton last week to join the Waipori.
