CHRISTCHURCH LANDS OFFICE COMPLAINT. In a Press Association message sent out from /Cliristchwch on .Monday, com plaint v\ns made about the difficulties of tilt- Lands Office in dealing with the press of work caused by the require merits of soldier settlement. This statement was brought under the notice of the Minister of Lands. Mr. Guthrie said that he had told the Commissioners of Crown Lands when they had met him at the conference hold in Wellington recently that if they needed more staff to carry on this ex tra work of settling soldiers on land they must at once apply for additional staff, without letting the work fall into arrear. The Minister said ho bad made the point quite clear that on no account was busincM to be retarded. Up till the present ho had not received from the Christchorch office any application for additional staff. If such an application lnjri come under his notice- it would Tiavo received immediate attention, Some days ago the Under-Secre-tary had informed him to the effect that the Chrislchurch office was over-worked, and that he was looking into the matter.
