WAR CONTINGENT ASSOCIATION
STILL DOING GOOD WOIiK* ' Although the war is practically over, the activities of the War Contingent Association in Jxmdon continue with the same spirit and tlioug'htfulness which have characterised its policy from the' date of its formation. At present the association in Loudon is supplying to each of the troopships returning with fit men on 'board a good assortment of spoils material, etc., for tho use of the men during the voyage home. Each ship is supplied with footballs, boxing glovos, punchballs, quoits, playing cards, draughts and dominoes, music, gramophones and records, and a plentiful supply of books and magazines, writing paper, etc., and .in addition (lie association sends to the officer commanding the troops on eacli ship a sum of .CSO for each M men on 'board, which is used during the voyage for purchasing fruit ,in the tropics and for prize money for the men's competitions on board. Jlr. G. 0. Sutton, who was for a few months acting as secretary for the New Xealand War Contingent Association in London, and has recently returned to Wellington, has received from several of the officers commanding troopships letters which set out in very warm terms Hie appreciation of all ranks on hoard of what has been done for them by the New Zealand A\ r «r Contingent Association, 'iflie association has dolio splendid work for our men in England during the past four years, and by providing for (heir amusement on the voyage homo they have been able to eoiilinuo their usefulness right wp to the time when our men arrive back in New Zealand. Sir. I. W. Raymond, chairman of the Executive Committee in London, has devoted tho whole of his time during the last few years to the association's work, and is now engaged on tho realisation of the assets in the various institutions which the association established for the uso of onr soldiers, many of whom must have the plensantest recollections of the N.Z.W.C.A. -in London and other parts of England.
