The ■ Australian steamer Glaucus -was berthed at Duncdin on Saturday afternoon to discharge 2000 tons of guano from Surprise Island. Tho vessel left Port Keinbla on April 22 for Noumea, whero Bhe arrived on April 30. A full cargo of coal was discharged at the New Caledonian port, and the Glaucus left en May 10 for Surprise Island. She arrived at an anchorage off tho island on May 11, and experienced no difficulty in loading, her cargo, departure being taken on May 17 direct for Duncdin. Fine weather was experienced until the vessel was approaching Oook Strait, when she encountered heavy gftles and very high seas, which prevailed until arrival olf Ocago Heads on Friday afternoon. The Secretary of Marine (Mr. G. Allyort) reported yesterday that further wreckage had.como ashore at the hoad of Pallisor Bay. Also that the master of the Blenheim passed some wreckage in the vicinity of The Brothers on Tuesday. All' this wreckage is thought to be from the Queon of the South. Up to the present nothing of any groat value has been .wived from this vessel, most A tho salvaged cargo so far being oils. KAHTJ LATE. THE PORT CURTIS. Further particulars have been received regarding 1 tlie Commonwealth and Dominion Line's now steamer Port Curtis, which was purchased from the Imperial Government. It appears that this steamer, whtoh is No. «7 in Messrs. Workman, Clark's yards at Belfast. Is ono of tho "G" type of standard Steamers. Sho is 450 ft. Ion? by 58ft. in breadth, with a moulded depth of 40ft. ' Her tonnage is 8000 gross, and 10.800 dead-weight, and at a loaded draft, of 29ft. sho will dlsplaeo 1<6,009 tons. FEDERAL AND SHIRE . The*F. and S. liners Essex and Durham have been fixed to load, in New Zealand in July for the United Kingdom. The Shropshire is to load at Napier and Wellington for Liverpool, via. Panama, during tho latter part of June. The vessel is due at Nanier on Juno 17 from Australia. The Suffolk is to load at Dunedin, Lytteltou, and Wellington about tho end of Juno and beginning of July for Liverpool. The vessel is due «t Dunedin about Juno 29 from Australia. RONA ARRIVES. An arrival in port early yesterday afternoon waß tho barquo Rona, after a passage of twenty-two' days from Newcastle. Tho Wanganui "Chroniclo" reports as follows on tho Kapuni:—"lt wao discovered on examination that she had Buffered Bovercly from her collision with tho Patea breakwater, oh Friday night. Tho vessel will, it is understood, go on tho beach at Putiki for repairs, 'instead of proceeding to Wellington." 1 SAILERS COMING. Sailing vessels lately reported to bo fixed for loading at San Francisco With case oils for tho Vacuum Oil Company includo tho schooners William E. Burnham and Irene, both of Whioh aro now en routo from Napier and Lyttolton respectively for tho Californian port. Tho Luzon, naw outward bound from Wellington to .San Francisco, is also to load oil there for Wellington. ANDREW WEIR LINE. The Andrew Woir Company recently purchased three new steamers from the Imperial Government. The vessels aro of the single-deck type, awl are of 11.C00 ton 3 each. Tho names selected for them are Luceric,. Orteric, and Foreric. They ■ have a speed of 11 knots. Two smaller vessels of 8200 tons ench have also been acquired, and have been name >Aymeric and Tymoric. The purchasing of thdse ilvo vessclß ia responsible for the addition of 40,000 tons to tho company's fleet. REMUERA'AND WESTMORELAND. A 6tart was mado at Port Chalmers "on Monday morning with tho transhipping of tho frozen produce from the Westmoreland to tho Remucra. When this work has been completed tho Westmoreland will be placed in dry dock for examination and repairs to her hull. ORARI REPORTED. The New Zealand Shipping Company have received advice that tho liner Orari left Port Said about May 17 for Australia, with returning Commonwealth troops. The vessel was due at Colombo last Saturday, FLORA ARRIVES. The Union Company's Mand steamer Flora arrived at Auckland from the Eastern Pacific on Monday, and brought a, full cargo of fruit and Island produce, all of which is in good condition. It comprises 14,000 cases of fruit, ICO bags of coconuts, and 100 tons of pearl Bhell. Nothing untoward was experienced on tho voyage, though tho outward run was moro or losb stormy throughout. The Flora, is advertised to Bail for Rarotonga and Tahiti to-morrow. The following vessels were expected to bo within range of Auckland Radio last night :-Oity of Dunkirk, Roggcvcen. Tho coaßtal steamer John was taken DP on tho slip yesterday. It is hoped to got her away at the end of the week for southorn ports. S Mr. A. Selby Dalglcish, R.N.R., has joined the Katoa as chief officer, relieving Mr. R. Leech, who lias gone ashore on holiday leave. Mr. Dalglcish recently returned from active service, having served for over two years in the naval forces in England. Ho hold the rank of lieutenant, and was attached to the Portsmouth Patrol.
