♦ EMPRESS THEATRE. Charlie Chaplin, in his humorous hlirlcsque on tho grand opera, "Carmen," continues to draw crowded houses at all sessions at the Empress Theatre, Edna Purviance, Chaplin's lady partner, is seen in the role of Carmen. Chaplin's work in the burlesque, npnrt from beinjj funny, is roniarknbly clever. In addition is shown "Vanity and Sables," one of O. Henrv's stories, with Wallace Mactlonald and Mildred Manning in the leading roles. This is a very fine story, well staged and acted. Another attraction is the singing of Mr, C. Melvin. KING'S THEATRE. An entertaining programme of pictures and music is pleasing large audiences at the King's Theatre. The well-known Wellington baritone, Mr. W. ,Goudie sings "Friend of Mine" .(Sanderson), and "A Song of the Air Service" (Coates)i and receives The outstanding feature is Rex Benchs great motion' picture "Laughing Bill Hyde. This picture compares favourably with others of Rex Beach's subjects, and is a stoiT with pathos, humour, and a good moral. The chief part is m the hands of Will Rogers, the' well-known comedian. The bos plan is at the Bristol. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. The big attraction nt Everybody's Theatre is "The Eternal Sin." a powerful story adapted from the drama "Lucretia Borgia," by Victor Hugo. Featured in this drama is Florence Reed. The fourteenth episode of "Tho House of Hate" and the latest Pathe Gazette are included amongst the supports. The clever entertainer, Miss Bathie HowieStuart, was heartily applauded last evening, and wns recalled four times. Her two numbers "Fat Little Fellnr with Mammy's Eyes" and "Maori Song, are exceptionally good.
