TRAMWAY OVERCROWDING
Sir,—ln his courteous reply to the tramwaymen's deputation the Mayor appears to have overlooked a point, a most important point, "that a sectjon of the men are seriously.contemplating taking drastic action." Sir, these men are public servants—not masters—and they should have received a polite request to furnish the number of this dissatisfied "section" and informed that the corpora' tion will be pleased to relieve them of their ditties so soon as others are procured to fill their places. They are required to fulfil certain duties, under certain conditions, and if they cannot do tho work they should not undertake it. It is easy to learn who these men .are, and their services should have been dispensed with long ago. A conductor on the car on irtiich I usually return- norne is one of them, and if he continues, much longer to permit so many short-trip passengers to securo free rides after ' the car leaves Government Buildings. Is arm consider it my duty to report him; but I trust this notice will be sufficient., No wonder tho authorities are considering
