THE E.E.F.
Sir,—A great ninny people have probably no idea what the letters E.E.E. represent. They represent the initials of the Eastern Expeditionary Force, • commanded for some time by Sir Archibald Murray and subsequently by Sir Edward Allenby. "Out there" the. capital letters B.E.F. popularly represented the "Expedition Everyone's Forgotten." It was a force that got little limelight flun* on its trials and hardships during the war—the East is always shrouded in mystery—and now that the war is over it is still neglected and forgotten by the military authorities, otherwise the New Zealand Mounted Brigade would have returned from the sun and sand and flies of the land of the Pharaohs and not be doing duty there as a polico force,
It is to be hoped that Sir Ernest Chaytor, populnrly known as "Bluey," who 'commanded the Anzac Division and was in charge of all operations, east of "The Valley of the Shadow" in the lost big ."stunt," and Brigadier-General Meldrum, , known as' "Bay'nit Bill," officer commanding the New Zealand Brigade, will, be accorded the' great welcome they deserve—when they return with the remnant of their command—sometime about 1925.—1 am, etc., i .
