CUSTOMS REVENUE

A RECORD MONTH. ■ The Hon. Arthur Myers, Minister of Customs, stated yesterday that ■ tho amount of Customs revenue collected throughout the Dominion for the month of May wos and tho excise beer duty <£23,512. The figures for the month of May. 1918, were J30i,i32," and JC20.651 respectively. Commenting on the figures, Mr. Myers pointed out that the Customs revenue lor tlie month of May (i! 437,888) is lemartable for the fact that it is the greatest ever collected' in any month. Tho nearest previous figures wore .£422,666, wllected in June, 1015. The Minister states that increased shipping, fulfilment of overdue orders, and full oargoes. and the high values nf goods, are no doubt responsible for this record collection.
