MEMORIAL SERVICE AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY "
FOR OVERSEAS DOMINIONS

, London, May 25 (delayed). The outstanding Australian and New Zealand funotion in London on Empire Day was the memorial service for the Dominions' dead in Westminster Abbey at noon on Saturday. One thousand Dominion troops, of whom 350 wero Australians and ono hundred New Zealanders, wero present. The rest of the Abbey was reserved for tho relatives, of whom thore were five hundred Australian and two hundred and fifty New Zealanders. When the King and Queen had taken thoir seats tho service commenced with the hymn, "Through All the Changing Scones." The lesson was Isaiah, 61, followed bv Sir Hubert Parry's "I Waa Glad."
Thfl Archbishop of Canterbury, in an address, said: "i'or the first time m history tho wholo Empire is athrob witli ono eager and prayerful purpose, ono unshakeablo resolve, to prevent a great wrong. Already the Dominions liavo had a share in the glorious history cmbodiea in the stones of tho Abbey, but now they have made their own history. For centuries to come men will tell of the indomitable process and self-less devotion of the Australians, New Zealanders,.and other Dominion soldiers on Gallipoli, on Vimy Ridge, and at Vijlers Bretonneux. The service closed with Kipling s " Recessional," "Last Post," and "Reveille.'' —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
