LONDON POLICE DISPUTE
STERN WARNING'TO WOULD-BE STRIKERS. London, May SO. Cabinet has sanctioned an order'by the Police Commissioners warning the police against a strike. Strikers will be instantly dismissed and never permitted to rejoin the forces or receive pensions. The plea of intimidation wili not' be accepted 'as an excuse. Officers and men have been instructed to defend themselves if necessary by all legitimate means in the execution of their duty.—An,s. -N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec.. June 1, 5.5 p.m.) London, May 31. Mr. l'l. Shortt (Home Secretary) . has issued a warning to the Police Force against striking. He said that the Government had decided to pay a pensionable constable not less than ,£3 10s. per week. Tho Government could have no dealings with tho Policemen's Union. Any strikers would forthwith bo dismissed, and lose their pensions if a strike occurred. Not only special constables, but overy loyal citizen should come forward to assist in maintaining law and order. Later.
