Mr. A. T. Bate, who has been very ill l'or some considerable time, is now well oil the way to recovery. Mr. Bale is staying at Waikanae. Major D. ,T. Sweetzer, Camp Commandant at Trentham, having been granted leavo of absence, Lieutenant-Col-onel D. Blair. D.5.0., M.C., N.Z.S.C., assumed the duties of Acting Camp Commandant from yesterday. Captain A. A. Luckham, Camp Adjutant and Officer Commanding Detention Barracks, having 'been granted leave of absence, Lieutenant L. G. Goss, N.Z.S.C., has assumed the duties of Acting Camp Adjutant and Officer in Charge of Detention Barracks. Commissioner Howard, who is visiting- tho Dominion in connection with tho Salvation Army reorganisation scheme, was tendered a civic welcome at Auckland on Saturday by the Mayor.—Press Assn. Major and Mrs. Nutsford wore passengers from the south by yesterday's ferry steamer. A cable message has been received stating that Lieutenant-Colonel H. J. M'Lean left England for New Zealand by tho s.s. Mannganui, which sailed on 1 May 17. Colonel M'Lean, after being in charge of field ambulances in France and Germany, and Codford Hospital, in England, was appointed A.D.M.h. during tho demobilisation of our troops in Germany.
