The annual report and balance-sheet (which has already appeared in our col J umns) were adopted on the motion of tho chairman,-who pointed put that deepitii the many difficulties met with during tho war thogamo was in a. strong position, 'and-from , now onwards increased interest should be shown. Tho election of officers was proceeded with and resulted as follows:—Patron, His Excolloncy Lord Liverpool; piesident, Sir Joseph Ward, Bart., K.C.M.G.; vice-presidents, Colonels W. F. Salmon; representative to the Football Association, Londou, Mr. A, li. Gibbs; trustees, Messrs, H. J. Buck nndiJ.-M. Oilier; lion, auditor, Mr. A. (j. Bavnett. . Arising out of discussion on the annual report, Mr. A. E. Wells raised the , fiuestioh of the , introduction of the gemrf into the secondary schools, pointing out that much of the suceesg in getting th() game into tho primary schools meant failure when the boys' who had- learnt t<l play "Soccer ,, were unable.to continue their- football when they got into the colleges. He felt that if one of tho colleges introduced the gahio then, the rest would follow sooner or later. Tho chairman was of opinion that the matter should bo pushed for all it wa9 worth and that a. college tournament' should be suggested for the end of the , season. Eventually Mr. Wells moved -that a report should be prepared showing thfl number of secondary schools playing tho game in New Zealand, and that full information should be obtained from thd Football Association regarding the control oof school football in England. This was carried -after the secretary had explained what schools were playing in the Dominion.
Mr. H. G. Hall, headmaster of Nireahn School, Eketahuna, an old Lancashirtf player, wrote thauking. the association for donating a ball to the school.,- This was in response tea previous-request for a ball, the headmaster, stating that ho had a number of boys now. playing the game. ..' ■' :v ■ Mr. 21. J. Buck raised the. question of overseas teams visiting , the. Dominion, and eventually it was decided.that, offili ated associations should be-informed th the council is of opinion, that an Austr. linn'team should l>3 invited to tour No Zealand next season, and asking wh support each association is/ likely to gi tho proposal. The arrangements will made through the Commonwealth Fo> hall Association, though'it is most' likf, that' a New South Wales team will '■ euingested-to travel. . .' , .. Regarding tho proposed visit of English team it was pointed out tl Colonel Courtney was at present in Eγ land,' and .there was probably no c, better acquainted with New. Zeala "Soccer" nor Jjettcr able to support t Dominion's claims for' a. toviring tea than he was. Tho great difficulty to . overcome in the,-past had been the pi fessionol side of-the game, but now the Bus liiulVbeeiji.-vpr/ much curtailed ; was quite- possiblo that the Football A ■ •Wcintion 'Council: would consider tl; matter nuicli inore favourably. Mr. Wells etressed the point of afli' ated associations being fully represent at meetings of the association, and jraint ed out that it»was impossible to know (.he requirements , of the game in the different centres unless proper representation W2s made.
It was decided to write to all assoeialion? with a view to again reviving thn smaller associations which were in existence iii pre-war' times. The secretary pointed, out. what he- had already dons in the matter, but the difficulty in soma of!the country'associations was tho distance the teams had to go to play one another. , • ■.
