Wanganui, May IS. , The scow Maroro and the barque Whito Pino Bailed for Sydney and Adelaide respectively yesterday evening, with cargoos of timber. MOANA FROM SAN FRANCISOO. Moana'arrived nt Wellington at 4.50 p.m. yesterday, berthing at King's Wharf ,at 7.40 to land her passengers and mails. The vessel's cargo comprises 2000 tons,--and is a general one,-including 27,000 cases of fruits. The naßßage across the Pacific was made in fine weather until four days ago when a south-westerly gale of some lorce reduced the progress of the vessel. ' The Moana will return to San Francisco, via Harotonga and Papeete, on Thursday. PAKEHA DUE TO-DAY The troopßhip Pakeha, in later progrcßß report by wireless, cxpectß to reach Wellington early this afternoon, and will later berth at King's.. Wharf. She will sail for Lyttelton to-night to discharge her coal cargo. The South Island portion of the soldiers will go with her to-night. THE MAORI. MORE GERMAN SHIPS FOR N.Z. Tho German steamers which were mention in yesterday's DOMINION aB listed to bring returning troops to Australia and Now Zealand wero officially announced yesterday afternoon. The Prinzessin cmbarked 073 troops and passengers at London on .May 16 for Wellington. She should arrive here about July 2. Tho PrinzeHsin is one of three German steamers being- managed by the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company lor the Imperial Government, and was formorly owned by the Deutsche Ost-Afrika Line Tho other steamers are the Kigonia, of the samo Hue, steel twin-screw, MOO tons gross, built in 1914 at Hamburg, and tho Wahcriry. lioth these steamers were employed in the German Knst Africa trade prior to the war. The former is bringing troops to New Zealand, and the latter is'going to Australia. They will shortly both lcava England, A "MYSTERY" SHIP. A standardised steamer—the War Paris of 7700 tons net, which is to be renamed Awanui, is reported to be loading shortly at New York for New Zealand and Australian ports, under the auspices of tlic American and Australian Line. No information can be gathered locally about the Awanui (or her charter;, whose Maori name naturally suggests that her owners have already interests In the export ship ping biißincßs of New Zealand, and are replacing a vessel lost during tho war. All, the overseas shipping companies who aro likely to be so interested state that as yet they know nothing about the War Paris or Awanui. WAITOMO LEAVES CALCUTTA. Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the Waitomo left Calcutta on May 20 with a shipment of merchandise for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttcltou, and Dunedin, via Singapore and Hamarang. The vessel is due at Auckland about June 21, and should reach this port early in July. IRIS FOR COOK STRAIT. Telegrams from Auckland report the sailing from that port yesterday afternoon of H.M. cable ship Iris for Cook Strait. The Iris has been at the northern port for. some months past. OOLLIERS FROM NEWCASTLE. The Union Company's colliers Waipori and Kaituna Bailed from Newcastle ou Tuesday, the former for Lyttelton and the latter for Wellington, The following steamers were expected to be within wireless range of Auckland last night:—Niagara, 'Kauri, Tutanekai, and Western Comet. The New Zealand Refrigerating Company's Mana will sail at noon to-day for Wanganui, via Pictoh. Tho Calm will load at Wellington on Saturday for Wanganui. • Tho Union Company s barque Darlford was expected to leavo Newcastle on Tuesday for Oallao (South America) with a cargo of coal. ' The Glaucus, with a, cargo of guano from Surprise Island, is expected to reach Dunedin within the next few days'. Messrß. Birt and Co., Ltd., of Sydney, have received advice that the Swedish .steamor Nordic left Gothenburg on May 5 for Australia, via Genoa and Suez. It is unofficially stated that the West Australian Government has disposed of tho State motor ship Kangaroo for £300,000. about double the amount that was paid for her. Tho collier Komata arrived yesterday from Westport, to which port she will return from Wellington to-morrow night. The Wellington-owned scow Magic reached Wanganui yesterday morning from this port and will there load for Collingwood, The nailer will return to Wellington with stone from Sandy Bay. The discharge of the Manuka will bo started this afternoon. A Press Association telegram from Timaru states that the Katoa sailed last night for Auckland direct with a full cargo.
