ONE OF THE COUNCU/S DIFFICTTL- : / '.I'IBS. ' ' Milk simply is becoming a grave pro!) lem, in Wellington 'just now, and it lias already discovered other problems. The. chairman of the Milk Committee {Councillor Norwood) asked the City Council last night to accept the following iecom. mendation :— "That the various local bodies con. corned he asked, to confer' with, the ob iect of formulating a' conference to bn held in Wellington to consider the. improvement'of the arterial roads of the> Manawatu .and. Wairarapa districts." The reason for the recommendation, lie said, was that the'committee had to go "over the hill" for milk, and if mill) was to .be- obtained, on Sundays, it would have to be brbujrht in by motor lorry. There seemed to be no escape from this. The difficulty was at present that the. bridges over the Kimutaka route were not strong enough to carry (he weight of the milk lorries when loaded. The Mayor, said ho would havo pleai sure in calling the local bodies together.
