PRELIMINARY INQUIRY HELD. By Telegraph-Press Association. Dunedin, May 29. Captain Beaumont held a preliminary inquiry on Monday and yesterday concerning the ncnident to the Westmoreland when leaving tlio Hinflf on May 21. The evidence of the master and certain members of the crow was taken, and ha 9 been forwarded to the Minister of Marine, who will decide whether a Magisterial inquiry will be necessary.
