TECHNICAL SCHOOL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. Messrs. G. Frost (chairman), T. Ballinger. T. Forsyth, G. L. Stewart. J. Wallace, J. P. Shand. H. M. Gore, L. R. Partridge, J. ,T. Clarke, and Lawrencewere present at the monthly meeting of the Technical Education Board held last evening. ' Tho financial statement showed receipts amounting to .£ll9l 16s ; lOd. The expenditure amounted to .£875 Os'. 9d., which left a credit balance of .£IBO 9s. 3d. Sundry accounts amounting to £169 7s. 6d. were'passed for payment. ' Mr.' T. Ballinger raised the question of the payment of JEISOO to the Wellington Industrial Association by the Education Board for the building which had been erected for technical education purposes in Wakefield Street as the result of an exhibition promoted by_ tho association mnnv years ago. Ho said that ho noted the matter had been brought before the board, and the answer was that it had no power to pay out such a sum o> luonov for tho building. If that wo}'* tho case ho suggested that a short Bill might, be put through Parliament givinj, the board such power. Mr. Forsvth: Then you would want another Bill authorising the payment of the money. Mr. Ballinger: Why? Mr.' Forsyth: Because wc (the Education Hoard) haven't got the money. It would have' to be paid by tho Treasury. Mr. Ballinger: Then all we can do is to hang on to the building.
