Fast and open play ivas the order of the day, lwtli teams playing a good clean game.. Petone proved the better team, an'iV notched another win by a substantial • margin. Soon after commencing play University were awarded a free kick anil Scott kicked a good goal. University, 3; Petone, nil. Even loose play followed, and theft a dangerous rush by Pctoiw forwards ended in Bowers scoring a try, which was not converted. Play oontinned in University's twenty-five, and from a crummage near the lino Parker scored for Petone. Almost immediately afterwards ' Petono notched another try, Comer getting' over. Petone, 9; University, 3. University forced the paCB nftcr this, and carried play to Petono twenty-fivo, two forces following in quick succession. From the onlset of the second half University repeatedly endeavoured to break through tlia Petone defence, but two more forco downs were their only reward. Soon afterwards .Petone carried the, ball to the other end of tlio field, and Hamilton scored. Tlionia.? converted. Petone, 14 j University, 3. Good play 'by the University backs resulted in tlio ball again being carried to Petone twonty-fivc, and Scott passed to Barker,' who scored. Scott converted. Petone, 11; University, 8. Shortly afterwards gdood play by Petojie enabled ' Hamilton to score between the posts. Thomas converted. Hamilton scored another try almost immediately afterwards, making tho tally' l'etone, 22; University, 8. A few minutes later play again (ravelled to Petone twenty-live, and Aitken . . scored . for University. Tho attempt at goal failed. Petone, 22; University, 11. Throe mora tries followed in quick succession for Petone, Hamilton, Ambler, and Thomas each getitng over. All the attempts at j goal proved unsuccessful.
