IMPROVEMENT IN NEW SOUTH WALES MAINTAINED.
' ' Sydney, May 2-1. Despite the long spell of wet weather the influenza position maintains lan improvement. Tlie death rate has shrunk to fimnll proportions, and new eases both in the city and the country are steadily decreasing in numbers. Reports from the southern. States are similar in character. . In Brisbane the disease has a strong hold and is still spreading. Over seven "hundred oases are in the hospitals, though tho proportion of deaths is not high. The public services are much haul, pered by the heavy sick list.—Press Assn.
