Hubbard, Montgomorie, Bonad, Linklater, and Hopcroft a financial committee. Further consideration was giveu to the lengthy resolution tabled at ft previous meeting 'by Mr. M'Donald, on behalf of the Te Horo branch relative t» proposed amendments in the constitution, which was after a short discussion. It was agreed to supprt the following remit from the Linton ..branch regarding the inspection .of pigs:—"That a proposal to be put forward to oppose the suggestion that tho farmers be compelled to have their pigs slaughtered in abattoirs, as, farmers know what it means to cart pigs in the beat .of the day, which is the . dairy time. All necessary inspection is undergone in the bacon factories, and bumping and braising is detrimental to good hacon." .Some discussion ensued when Mr. Montgomerio moved on' behalf of flie Kaiwhata branch:—"That (he .Fanners' Union protest against the action of the Government in fixing the price of butter for local trade at Iβ. 5d., 2Jd. below export price, and urge them to niako up the difference ■ out of the Consolidated Fund." According to the . mover, • it was very unfair that tho Government should fix the butter price as it had done, as it meant that the dairy farmer was not getting , , the price that 'he should. Other produce was not so pen'nlised. Various members supported the remit, which was agreed to. Messrs. Law '(Shannon), M'Donftld (To- Horo), and M'Leavey (Palmerston North) were nominated for positions on the Provincial Executive, and on Mr. HnTjlwrd's motion it was decided to forward a rerait to the provincial conference, recommending that the presidents of .subprovincial executives- bo ex-officio mombois of the Provincial Executive.
