GENERAL RICHARDSON'S NEW DUTIES Important changes in tho organisation of the Defence Department aro announced. The appointment of General Officer in Charge of Administration is instituted, and it is provided that this officer shall tnke over tho duties formerly discharged by the quaitormaetor-general and the adjutant-geiicrnl. The official announcement of the changes takes' tho following form:— The following appointment at Headquarters is hereby instituted, with effect from May 5, .1919:Genenil Officer in Charge of Administration, Headquarters, N.Z. Military Forces.

Tate, C.8.E., AdjutantGeneral to the Forces. Lieutenant-Colonel George S. Richardeon, C.8., C.M.G., C.B.E. (temp. Brira-dier-Gencral in N.Z.E.F.), to be colonel. Accelerated promotion for specially good service in the N.Z. Expeditionary Forco, with effect from May 5, 1019. _ Colonel G. S. Richardson. C.8.. C.M.G., CBE p.s.c., R.
